The cellon formation and links with the early aviation pioneers

In Wallace, Barr formed Cellon in 1911 to manufacture a patented German material that promised to revolutionize the proofing and strengthening of airplane wings and windscreens. After the war Cellon expanded its operations into paint and lacquers, building a substantial factory in Kingston on Thames to manufacture aircraft paints and finishing products.

The successful business was eventually sold to the Courtauld Group and the cellon brand was absorbed into the group structure. Cellon today has been re branded and called SCELLON a business that SELL’s ON your business having its roots in innovations, creativity, growth, and success which can be traced back to the founding fathers.
